In her oral history, Sr. Marilynn Hofer reflects on the importance of her Franciscan heritage and praying the Prayer of Saint Francis in her call to join the Sisters of Saint Francis, Oldenburg. An educator by trade, Sr. Hofer discusses her career working at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels. She describes her experience studying for her doctorate at The University of Notre Dame in the years after Vatican II as one that was “defining” and had a “big impact” on her life. Sr. Hofer highlights her time living with fellow Sisters at Marian University, guided by Franciscan values, community prayer, and the sharing of meals and also reflects on her time working at Marian University in the Development and Alumni Relations offices. At the conclusion of her oral history, Sr. Hofer discusses her dear friend, Sister Stephanie and their time teaching together at Brookville (Indiana) and Marian University.
