As a complement to the more professionally aspirant Phoenix, The Carbon served as the unofficial publication of Marian College, with the contributors and editors being solely the students of the college. Publication of The Carbon was from 1954-2000. Serving as an event bulletin at its outset, The Carbon would eventually become a voice not just for campus-related events and issues, but a reaction (often unfiltered) to the prevailing social and political issues of the time as well.
